The forklift

This is a forklift and is used for many tasks that need to be done on the farm. Its main use is for lifting things. During the summer period it is very useful for helping moving silage bales and straw bales etc.... Also in the winter period the forklift is used for the feeding the cattle on the farm. Also pallets with seed mixes etc... are lifted into the sales area with the forklift. This is piece of machinery is the most used on the farm, through out nearly every bit of the day making life a lot easier and quicker.

Tractors

We have two tractors like the one pictured on the right. Main tasks for these are to help work down the land on the farm. During the summer period they are both used to lead corn from the fields to the farm for storage. After harvest the tractors are used for a wide range of land work from subsoiling to discing the land. The tractors are also used to pull the drill which puts the seeds into the worked land. This bit of machinery during the summer and early autum period is the most used bit of machinery, without the two tractors on the farm work would not able to be done as fast and to as high a standard.

Combine

The combine cuts all the crops on the farm when they are ready to be cut. For example from barley the combine will take the grain and leave the straw on the ground for the baler to pick up.

Baler

The Baler on the farm does what is says produces bales. Round bales are produced in various sizes. Grass is baled to produced hay or silage for eating and straw is baled to produce straw bales for bedding.
